Annual Report

"At the dawn of the 21st century, in a world where knowledge truly is power and literacy is the skill that unlocks the gates of opportunity and success, we all have a responsibility as parents and librarians, educators and citizens, to instill in our children a love of reading so that we can give them the chance to fulfill their dreams.”

–Barack Obama
Keynote speech at the American Library Association
Annual Conference

Since its founding in 1991, the Everybody Wins! Foundation has been a leading nonprofit literacy and mentoring organization, pairing caring adult volunteers with children in elementary schools for weekly reading aloud and conversation.  It is our mission to reach children while they are young, stimulate their interest in reading, and encourage them to believe that they can succeed in school and ultimately, in life. Our core belief is that reading for pleasure is a key part of education and that in the increasingly complex world in which we live, having a literate, educated population is essential to our nation’s future.

Lucky students at PS 92 in Corona, Queens had stories read to them by New York Mets reserve infielder Alex Cora (l) and relief pitcher Brian Stokes (r) at the annual Reading Rally held in the school gym. The Mets organization has been partner of Everybody Wins! for the past eight years, sending a contingent of Power Lunch volunteers to PS 92 each week. Students will also attend a Mets game at the new Citi Field in May.
